Visit to Export Facilitation Center - On September 15, 2023, the Sri Lanka Shippers Council (SLSC) organized a visit to the Export Facilitation Center (EFC). The discussion during the visit covered key topics, including Unreleased Exports, Inaccurate Export Statistics, and Issues with the Inland Revenue Department.

To address the challenge of Unprocessed Exports, the SLSC has formally requested an investigation into the root causes. The inquiry aims to identify whether the issue stems from a system problem, data updating issues, or backend system issues. The overarching goal is to enhance the existing system and streamline processes for more effective export facilitation.

During the discussion, it was highlighted that Customs currently faces a shortage of manpower. In response, the SLSC aims to work collaboratively with the EFC to explore potential solutions to this issue. To facilitate this, the EFC officer has agreed to liaise with the ICT department and organize a meeting with the Head of EFC. This meeting will provide a platform to delve deeper into the challenges discussed and formulate strategies for resolution.

The visit to the Export Facilitation Center is part of the ongoing efforts by the SLSC to address and improve various aspects of the export process, ensuring a more efficient and seamless experience for businesses involved in international trade.
